Will the rain leave in time for Christmas? Here’s your Myrtle Beach-area week forecast

More inches of rain are expected to fall down on Myrtle Beach before Christmas Day, according to forecasters.

Parts of Horry County are under a flash flood watch through 9 a.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. Luckily, the rain is expected to move out of the Grand Strand area by Tuesday morning in time for a mostly sunny Christmas. The NWS in Wilmington said marine impacts and coastal flooding may last through Tuesday.

Wind gusts are expected to be between 16 to 20 mph and could reach up to 28 mph in the Myrtle Beach area Monday and continue into the night, the NWS Wilmington reports.

Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach could get up to 4 inches of rain and inland areas could see up to 3 inches by the end of the storms, forecasters say.

After rainfall leaves the area, the rest of the week, including Christmas Day, will be mostly sunny with high temperatures in the low 60s, the NWS reports.

Low temperatures the remainder of the week will be in the 40s.
