Horry County Coroner identifies pedestrian killed in hit-and-run in Little River 

The Horry County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who was killed in a hit-and-run in Little River Friday night.

The victim was James Urban, 58, according to Horry County Deputy Coroner Michelle McSpadden. She released the victim’s name Saturday morning, adding that Urban recently moved to the Little River area from Michigan.

A pedestrian was hit by an unidentified car on U.S. Highway 17 near Baldwin Avenue in Little River around 7:35 p.m. Friday, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Officials believe Urban was lying in the road when the vehicle hit him.

The vehicle did not stop and has not been located, officials said.

South Carolina Highway Patrol, who is investigating the crash, is asking anyone with information to call 843-661-4705.
