Georgetown County jail inmate hospitalized after found unresponsive in cell

A Georgetown County inmate was found unresponsive in his jail cell, according to a news release from the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office.

The man was found by a correctional officer early Friday morning, and he was taken to the Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Georgetown Sheriff Carter Weaver contacted the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division to further investigate the matter.

At this time, no details were released about the inmate’s identity or condition after he was taken to the hospital.
