One dead after a crash near Highway 544 in Horry County
One person died following a single-vehicle wreck near S.C. Highway 544 on Thursday night.
The driver of a Volkswagen Passat was traveling east on Big Block Road around 8 p.m., said Lance Cpl. Matt Southern with the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The driver went off the road near 544 and hit a ditch.
The driver was not wearing a seat belt, Southern said.
EMS arrived and took the victim to the hospital, where they later died, Southern said.
The Horry County Coroner’s Office has not identified the victim. The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
