The Horry County Government and Justice Center was evacuated Monday afternoon after someone threatened the building, Horry County Spokesperson Kelly Moore said.
Horry County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Brooke Holden said the building was evacuated after a bomb threat around 2 p.m. As of 5 p.m., the building was cleared by police, though the investigation continues, Holden said.
According to a case report, the threat was called in a little before noon. An Horry County Clerk of Court’s Office employee received a phone call in which the caller said another worker there was “planning on setting off a bomb there today,” the report states.
Employees were forced to evacuate the Second Avenue building after the threat and were allowed to leave for the day. Horry County canceled its Monday evening Board of Zoning Appeals meeting.
Later, authorities deemed through an investigation that the threat was null.
