Two drownings reported along the Grand Strand

Two people drowned Saturday in separate incidents, one in the ocean in Myrtle Beach and another in the Intracoastal Waterway near Enterprise Landing, officials said.

Crews responded to both calls about 6 p.m. Saturday, officials said.

“The Myrtle Beach Police Beach Patrol with assistance from the United States Coast Guard have transitioned from search and rescue to recovery efforts in regards to the drowning at Seventh Avenue South and Ocean Boulevard,” Lt. Joey Crosby with Myrtle Beach Police said shortly before 9 p.m.

In the other incident, S.C. Department of Natural Resources was using three boats to search the waterway, said Jason Mills with Horry County Fire Rescue. The search was called off at dark, but will resume Sunday morning, according to the Horry County Joint Information Center.
