Multiple vehicle crash closes U.S. 17 Bypass for several hours
A multi-vehicle crash on U.S. 17 Bypass closed all lanes Wednesday for almost five hours.
The crash occurred around 3:23 p.m. near Shetland Lane, just north of Farrow Parkway, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol. All southbound lanes on U.S. 17 Bypass were closed for several hours.
There were no fatalities in the crash, Horry County Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard confirmed.
Several people were injured from the crash, police said, though it’s unclear how many.
Police were redirecting traffic to Harrelson Boulevard.
Highway Patrol also responded to another crash on U.S. 17 Bypass N. and Pine Island Road, just in front of Coastal Grand Mall. That wreck involved a Myrtle Beach police vehicle, and no injuries were reported.
The crash occurred around 6 p.m. Wednesday. The left lane of the highway was closed for about two hours, according to the Highway Patrol.
