Neighbor puts out mobile home fire before Georgetown County crew arrives

Georgetown County firefighters responded to a call Wednesday night to a home, but a neighbor put the small fire out before crews arrived, according to Tony Hucks, assistant fire chief with Georgetown County Fire.

Firefighters were called about 10:10 p.m. Wednesday to a single-wide mobile home on Missroon Street in Georgetown County, Hucks said.

A neighbor noticed smoke coming for the mobile home’s window and used a water hose to put the fire out before rescue crews arrived.

When firefighters got there, they put out embers, removed smoke, and ensured the fire was completely out, Hucks said.

No one was home at the time and no firefighters reported injuries in connection with the incident.

Hucks said the cause of the fire is still undetermined.
