PALM Charter High School hosting first major fundraiser
PALM Charter High School is kicking off its first major fundraiser this week.
The charter school will host its fundraiser from 6 to 9 p.m. at Revolutions night club in Myrtle Beach. The “Spring Fling” will feature food, door prizes, drinks and music by the Tru Sol Band, according to Dina Stasalis, marketing director for the school.
“It’s going to be really big,” Stasalis said. “When we learned that we got Tru Sol, we were really psyched about it.”
The school will also raffle off a donated 2003 GMC Sonoma that PALM students refurbished, painted and reconditioned for $20 per ticket, Stasalis said. Only 350 raffle tickets will be sold.
“It’s pretty much like a new truck,” she said.
Each ticket guarantees a full dinner of chicken marsala, filet mignon and potatoes, as well as two drinks per person. Attendees can also bid on several donated items in a silent auction; items range from tickets to the Carolina Opry to green fees for several area golf courses.
“For the price, what you’re getting is great. Anytime you can hear Tru Sol for three hours it’s really good,” Stasalis said.
PALM is a publicly funded part of Horry County School District, but as the nonprofit charter grows it must find ways to support its programs, Stasalis said. The school opened three years ago with a graduating class of nine and it now educates about 90 people, she said.
The “Spring Fling” is the school’s first attempt to reach out into the community as a whole.
“We realize that it takes a lot and we’re trying to gain a presence in the community,” she said.
Tickets are $30 per person or $50 per couple, and they can be purchased at the school or by calling Sharon Donovan at 903-6600. Revolutions is located at 1320 Celebrity Cir., Myrtle Beach in Broadway at the Beach.
