Little River man dies in morning crash

A Little River man was killed in a two-vehicle collision Monday morning at U.S. 17 and Golf Avenue, and one man is charged.

Edward Regis Flinn, 66, of Little River died from head injuries after the crash which involve a vehicle rollover an happened less than a mile north of North Myrtle Beach, according to Tony Hendrick, Horry County deputy coroner. Police said Michael McNanny, 61, is charged with failure to yield right of way.

The crash occurred around 8:30 a.m., according to the S.C. Highway Patrol. Flinn was pronounced dead at 9:07 a.m. at Seacoast Medical Center, according to Hendrick.

Cpl. Sonny Collins of the Highway Patrol said the crash happened when a truck driven by McNanny crashed into a sport utility vehicle driven by Flinn.

Flinn was traveling south on U.S. 17 when the truck McNanny was driving west from Golf Avenue, crossing U.S. 17, crashed into Flinn’s vehicle, Collins said. He said McNanny’s vehicle crashed into the driver’s side of Flinn’s vehicle.

An investigation continues, Collins said.
