Two bodies were pulled out of a pond in Loris Saturday, according to Horry County Fire Rescue Spokesperson Capt. Mark Nugent.

Edgar Domenico-Torres, 23, and Phillip Taylor, 26, both from Tabor City, N.C. were identified as the victims from the crash, according the Michelle McSpadden, Horry County deputy coroner.

They both died as a result of the drowning, she said.

Crews were called to the scene around 2:30 a.m. when a 9-1-1 caller said there was a vehicle submerged in 18 feet of water on 1070 Hulls Island Road, Nugent said. The caller said there was a person on top of the car.

Rescue divers did not find any victims initially, but continued searching around 10 a.m.
