NMB public safety, South Carolina troopers get visit from Kentucky’s ‘littlest trooper’
The ‘littlest trooper’ visited the North Myrtle Beach Department of Public Safety Saturday evening, according to a Facebook post from the department.
Gavin Miles, 7, from Cumberland Ky., is the youngest ‘trooper’ for the Kentucky State Police Troopers. After he was born premature with several health issues on June 15, 2010, Miles left the hospital with several diagnoses including Chylothorax, lymphatic glands producing excessive fluids in the body, pulmonary hypertension, high blood pressure in the lungs, pulmonary interstitial glycogenosis, atrium septum defect ASD, a hole in the upper chambers of the heart, and an underlying condition that was never diagnosed, according to a Facebook page dedicated to Miles.
The post reads, “They do not give him any life expectancy, but they also did not give him any hope whatsoever of leaving the hospital alive. He in now 7 1/2 is a walking, talking miracle!”
In June, Miles fulfilled one of his dreams and spent the day with the Kentucky State Police Troopers, WYMT reported. Now, Miles is visiting police departments including North Myrtle Beach and the South Carolina State Troopers.
He has a Facebook group, Gavin Miles KY’s littlest trooper, where he posts about his visits with different departments.
The page states that his family is in the process of starting a website to benefit the families of chronically ill children.
