Man shot on Pawleys Island, officials searching for suspect

Rescue crews took a man to the hospital Thursday afternoon after a man was shot, Jason Leslie, public information officer with the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office said.

The man was shot in the 2700 block of Waverly Road in Pawleys Island. Injuries for the man are unknown at this time, Leslie said.

Investigators are on scene and are searching for a suspect.

There is “no imminent threat to any schools in the area,” Leslie said, saying that Waccamaw Elementary and Waccamaw High School were within half a mile of the area.
