Dragon Boats to race
The Ground Zero Dragon Boat race and free festival will take place again Saturday at Grand Market at The Market Common.
The races begin at 8 a.m. with a live performance from Group 1 Crew around noon.
Participants compete in teams and each member is tasked with raising at least $150.
Proceeds from the Dragon Boat race benefit Ground Zero, a Christian youth ministry based in Myrtle Beach.
Myrtle Beach International Film Festival
The 10th annual Myrtle Beach Film Festival kicks off Wednesday at Carmike Cinemas’ Broadway 17.
More than 40 films from around the world will be screened at the theater at Broadway at the Beach through Saturday. The festival also will feature meet-and-greets and roundtable discussions about the film industry.
Awards for the filmmakers will be given Saturday evening in the theater after all of the films have been viewed.
Tickets for any two-hour block of films are $10, or an all-access pass is $50.

Shaggers in town
The Shaggers SOS Spring Safari kicked off in North Myrtle Beach last week and will include a parade Saturday.
The parade will begin at 1 p.m. and start at Main Street, travel along Ocean Boulevard and to Third Avenue South.

Celebrate Socastee heritage
The Socastee Heritage Festival will take place 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday near the Socastee Swing Bridge, 5835 Dick Pond Road, Myrtle Beach.
The festival will feature live music, food, performances and children’s activities and serves as a fundraiser for Socastee kids.
