The Myrtle Beach International Airport reported an increase of nearly 23 percent of passengers in November compared to November 2016, airport officials said in a statement Monday.

The total number of traffic last month topped 131,000, compared to more than 106,000 in November of last year.

“Passenger volumes at the Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) continue to surpass all previous records,” said Scott Van Moppes, director of airports for Horry County.

The airport has handled a record number of passengers this year, already surpassing the one million mark.

Van Moppes said the fall tourist season from September through November is also up significantly.

“We are excited to report that all of our airline partners operating in November reported increases over last year,” Van Moppes said.

“The unparalleled growth being experienced is the result of a healthy airline industry and strong demand for our fantastic destination, Myrtle Beach, SC,” Van Moppes said.
