Watch as workers remove crane from new highrise hotel on Ocean Boulevard

A crane that has loomed over the Ocean Boulevard North skyline for months was taken down Tuesday by construction workers signaling that exterior work on a high-rise hotel will soon be completed.

The hotel developed by Buchanan Motels LLC out of Virginia is expected to be named the Bay Shore Inn & Suites when it opens in the spring,” said Mark Kruea, Myrtle Beach spokesman.

It will feature an indoor water park with about 240 guest rooms along 18 floors.

The hotel is replacing a parking lot on 6th Avenue North, and city officials are counting on it to boost revitalization of commerce along this stretch of oceanfront.
