Conway man dead after U.S. 501 crash

A 22-year-old Conway man was killed in a two-vehicle collision early Sunday on U.S. 501, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The collision happened around 3 a.m. Sunday when a truck, attempting to turn left collided with a car that state troopers said did not obey a traffic signal.

Horry County deputy coroner Darris Fowler, said Dondre Sobers died in the collision on U.S. 501 near Wild Wing Boulevard.

South Carolina Highway Patrol Sgt. Bob Beres said a 2010 Ford pickup driven by 22-year-old Ryan Henderson was turning left off of U.S. 501, when Sobers disregarded a traffic signal in a 2000 Nissan Maxima and crashed into the truck. Sobers was northbound on U.S. 501 at the time, and he was not wearing a seatbelt, Beres said.

Henderson and two passengers in his vehicle were wearing seatbelts. They were taken to Grand Strand Medical Center. Their conditions were not available late Sunday.
