The City of North Myrtle Beach employes 140 people who make over $50,000, according to city records.

Each year The Sun News requests city salaries through the Freedom of Information Act and publishes them in an online database.

Of that, 14 employees make more than $100,000, including:

  • Kevin Blayton, director of Public Works
  • Paul Blust, assistant director of Planning and Development
  • John Bullard, director of Parks and Recreation
  • Jay Fernandez, director of Public Safety
  • James Grainger, public grounds superintendent
  • Michael Mahaney, city manager

Mahaney is the highest paid city employee, making close to $211,000 yearly.

North Myrtle Beach Mayor Marilyn Hatley was not on the list of employees.
