Horry County businesses to talk Bikefest

Horry County officials will meet with business owners and residents 9 a.m. Wednesday at Original Benjamin’s Calabash to discuss safety plans and other information during Memorial Day weekend.

The meeting will take place at 9593 N. Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach.

‘One shining moment’

The latest edition of March Madness will come to a close Monday night when Duke takes on Wisconsin in the NCAA national championship game. Both teams are No. 1 seeds, and television coverage begins at 9 p.m. on CBS.

Free fare day on Coast RTA

Coast RTA has announced that Thursday is a free fare day on all of its routes in Horry and Georgetown counties.

Coast is joining transportation authorities, departments of transportation and transit agencies to collectively call attention to the state of transportation infrastructure in the country.

Stand Up 4 Transportation Day is a local day for national education and outreach to the public and elected officials.

RIDE III to vote on some projects

Members of the RIDE III Committee will meet Wednesday to vote on the allocation of about $175 million on road projects that would be funded by a one-cent sales tax referendum that voters will decide on in 2016.

The meeting will take place 5 p.m. Wednesday in room 222 of the Wall Building on Coastal Carolina University campus.

Play ball!

While one game was played Sunday night, the majority of Major League Baseball teams open up Monday.

Later in the week, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans – in their first season as the Advanced Class A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs – begin their season by hosting the Wilmington Blue Rocks at 7:05 p.m. Thursday.

Allegiant to resume seasonal service

Allegiant Air is beginning seasonal service this week with flights to Columbus, Ohio, on Thursday and Cincinnati on Friday.
