Flood warning extended for Waccamaw River near Conway
A flood warning has been extended by the National Weather Service for Horry County, specifically in the areas of the Waccamaw River in Conway, lasting until Sept. 19 at 2 a.m.
According to the alert, around 8 p.m. on Thursday, the flood stage was just over 11 feet, which is the flood stage for the river.
The river is expected to reach 12 feet, which will cause more flooding in Lees Landing, Riverfront South, Pitch Landing and Savannah Bluff. Water is expected to affect homes north of Conway on Riverside Drive and swamps will be heavily flooded.
By Monday evening the river will fall and will be below flood stage.
