Photographer Jack Thompson relocates Myrtle Beach studio
After nearly a month of searching, longtime Myrtle Beach photographer Jack Thompson has found a new home for his studio just around the corner from his current spot.
Thompson, who has photographed Myrtle Beach for more than 50 years, will move Jack Thompson Studios to 503 Ninth Ave. N.
“We were fortunate to find a place at Ninth and Kings,” he said, adding that the spot used to be the Red Bow Gifts, Tea and Coffee Shop.
Thompson’s studio was located at 915 Broadway St. for about 15 years in a building owned by Herald Office Supply. Thompson said he was informed at the beginning of October that the office supply company wanted to expand and he would need to move his studio by the end of the month.
“We’ve spent the last four or five days moving the studio over to that address,” he said Monday morning. “We’re about 75 percent in the new place.”
Thompson said some of the pictures of 50 years of Myrtle Beach history might have to go into a storage facility.
“It’s kind of like trying to put six rooms into a three-room store,” he said.
Thompson said he expects to be fully out of the studio on Broadway Street by Friday and will be open for business next week.
