Coroner identifies woman killed in golf cart wreck

A woman killed when a car struck the golf cart she was riding in has been identified as Kathern Snipes from Greensboro, North Carolina, according to Horry County Deputy Coroner Tony Hendrick.

Snipes was ejected from the golf cart when a driver of a Toyota Camry, attempting to pass another car on Havens Drive around 6 p.m. Wednesday, struck the cart. Snipes died at the scene. She was 65 years old.

Another man from the golf cart was taken to Grand Strand Medical Center and was considered to be in “critical condition,” according to North Myrtle Beach public information officer Pat Dowling.

The driver of the Camry was traveling at a high rate of speed and attempted to pass a car in front of her when she hit the golf cart, Dowling said.

The North Myrtle Beach Public Safety Department and the Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team of the S.C. Highway Patrol are investigating the collision.
