Get the rain gear ready. Heavy downpours are possible this weekend
If your weekend plans involve outdoor activities Saturday night or Sunday morning, there’s a chance you could get rained out, according to a forecast brief from the National Weather Service in Wilmington, N.C.
Downpours are possible Saturday night into Sunday morning, with the window for the heaviest rain noted as about 10 p.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday, weather authorities said.
Though there’s a possibility of some localized flooding with the storms, widespread flooding is not anticipated, according to forecasters, who said tropical moisture will be “increasingly squeezed ahead of a cold front Saturday night into Sunday morning.”
Drier air will likely build up behind the front later on Sunday, officials said.
