Dense fog advisory issued Tuesday morning
Dense fog and low clouds will blanket the area Tuesday morning, impacting the morning commute for motorists.
The National Weather Service in Wilmington, N.C. has issued a dense fog advisory until 9 a.m. Tuesday morning for the Grand Strand and inland Horry, Georgetown counties, as well as neighboring northeast South Carolina counties and southeast North Carolina counties, according to the warning.
The advisory means visibility will be reduced to less than one quarter mile and near zero at times across some areas, weather authorities said.
The reduced visibility will create difficult and hazardous driving conditions for motorists who should use extreme caution, forecasters said.
Weather authorities recommended motorists slow down, use low beam headlights, and allow extra breaking distance between vehicles.
