Georgetown Disaster Recovery Center opens
A Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) opened Tuesday in Georgetown County. The center is offering information on disaster assistance to survivors of the storms and floods of Hurricane Matthew.
The DRC will help survivors who are seeking information on programs available to them or who are needing one-on-one help with disaster recovery issues. The center is being staffed with state and federal disaster recovery specialists, various state agencies, volunteer organization and representatives of the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Survivors are encouraged to register with FEMA before visiting the center by calling 800-621-3362 or by registering online at disasterassistance.gov.
The Georgetown center will operate from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday. The center is closed on Sunday.
A center in Horry County recently opened at the South Strand Recreation Center. The hours are the same as the Georgetown center.
