Three hospitals looking to expand in Carolina Forest
WPDE reported that Conway Hospital, McLeod Loris Seacoast Hospital, and Grand Strand Regional Medical Center all want to begin free-standing emergency departments to the Carolina Forest area. This was originally reported by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SC DHEC).
The program looks to mainly “prevent unnecessary duplication of health care facilities and services,” WPDE reported.
According to SC DHEC the Grand Strand Regional Medical Center’s Carolina Forest Emergency would cost about $9 million.
Conway Hospital’s Carolina Forest Emergency Center would cost about $9.3 million and McLeod Loris Seacoast Hospital’s McLeod Health Carolina Forest Campus would cost about $9.5 million and would be 12,995 square feet.
SC DHEC held a meeting on Thursday, Oct. 27 “to discuss certificate of need applications filed for these new facilities,” according to WPDE.
