Brisket will lasso your tastebuds to come back for more in North Myrtle Beach
Some real Texas barbeque is now just a quick drive up the coast instead of a few states away. Brisket in North Myrtle Beach is proud to serve this popular version of meat from the Deep South, as is visible in their name, complete with bull horns stretching from the “t”.
Outside, Brisket has played up the Texan theme, with a few cast iron decorations and cacti in white pebbles leading up to the building’s front. Inside, the restaurant continues with a characteristic saloon feel, complete with dark wood bar, shelves of bourbon, and a picture of John Wayne.
Not quite a year old, Brisket is already frequented by locals who stop in to buy the restaurant’s meats in bulk. In the wee hours of the morning, the various cuts and types of meat are smoked fresh for the coming day to ensure all the meals are served perfectly warm and tender. This does mean, however, the restaurant can run out of some meat, depending on how much is smoked, and how much is consumed during the day.
The menu is filled to the brim with Texan treats and the occasional familiar Lowcountry side so guests never forget where they are. Of course, given the name of the restaurant, brisket is the star of the show. However, their pulled pork, ribs, and sausage aren’t to be trifled with either. Even more popular proteins include smoked salmon, chicken, and ribeye.
Meals come out on aluminum trays that help keep mess down to a minimum. Although the brisket and pork are amazingly juicy and very flavorful on their own, there are a few options for sauces. Guests can add some spice to their meal, or vinegar, or even a little sweetness for a pleasant contrast of flavors.
Meats can be ordered on a platter or on a sandwich, and by the pound. Customers can mix and match some meats if they have trouble deciding, and even vegetarians can choose three sides instead of an entrée. Brisket does have a basic salad and more variety in their appetizers, like frito pie or tacos.
The restaurant is also known for their specialty cocktails, such as the “Brisket” Manhattan and the “Texas” Mule. For the drinkers who prefer beer, there is plenty to choose from, including Lone Rider and Oskar Blues. To top off a perfect Texan meal, imbibe in their pecan pie.
Every night from 4-6p.m., Brisket offers Happy Hour deals like a dollar off domestic and house liquor, plus changing specials written on their chalkboard. Keep in mind the kitchen does close at 9p.m., but the bar will remain open until closing time. Occasionally, the restaurant does shut their doors early if they actually run out of all their meat. But when you swing through the doors into Brisket, your taste buds will be lassoed into coming again and again.
