Coronavirus live updates Sept. 8: Myrtle Beach area sees more than 10 new COVID-19 cases
The Myrtle Beach area saw another 12 cases added to its daily count on Tuesday.
Horry County now has a total of 9,491 coronavirus cases, according to the latest figures from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.
The area has also seen 180 COVID-19 deaths.
Here are the latest updates on the coronavirus in the Myrtle Beach area Sept. 8:
Health officials have done more than 77,675 COVID-19 tests in Horry County since the pandemic started in mid-March. The county has about 130 cases per 100,000 residents.
In Georgetown County, the total number of coronavirus cases sits at 1,733. There have also been 37 deaths.
South Carolina has a total of 123,801 coronavirus cases since the pandemic started in March. There have also been 2,772 deaths across the state.

It is now mandatory to wear face masks in certain public areas in unincorporated Horry County, the City of Myrtle Beach, the City of North Myrtle Beach and Georgetown County.
Health officials say washing your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds can help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
