Coronavirus live updates Aug. 10: Horry County surpasses 150 total COVID-19 deaths
State health officials confirmed 31 new coronavirus cases and three additional deaths Monday in Horry County, according to the latest figures from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.
This brings the county’s total to 8,593 since mid-March, along with 151 total deaths.
The latest deaths, which occurred Thursday and Sunday included two people ages 65 or older and one 35-64 years old, according to DHEC.
Here are the latest updates on the coronavirus in the Myrtle Beach area Aug. 10.
In Georgetown County, there have been 1,461 confirmed cases and 19 deaths.
Across South Carolina, cases reached 100,431 and there were 17 new deaths to raise the total to 1,966 because of COVID-19, DHEC reports.
A total of 6,610 tests were reported to DHEC Wednesday, and 12.8 percent of those were positive.
The department shows more than 76 percent of inpatient beds are currently occupied with 1,353 COVID-19 patients hospitalized and 217 of those patients on ventilators.

Health officials say washing your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds can help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
