Coronavirus live updates July 20: Horry County sees fewer than 100 new COVID-19 cases
COVID-19 cases in Horry County increased by 64 Monday afternoon, bringing the total amount of positive cases in the county to 6,781 since the start of the pandemic, health officials announced.
There have been 86 deaths due to the virus reported in Horry County, according to the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.
Two new deaths were announced Monday in Horry County, and both were elderly people.

Cases of the coronavirus decreased in Horry County last week compared to the previous week, according to DHEC data. The county had just over 920 cases reported last week. Between July 6-12, Horry County had more than 1,300 cases.
The county also saw a decrease in COVID-19 deaths last week with 11 deaths due to the virus. There were 17 deaths the previous week.
Virus cases in Georgetown County have risen to 986 and there have been 11 deaths due to COVID-19, DHEC reports.
Across South Carolina, cases have reached 71,213, according to DHEC. The state has had 1,147 virus-related deaths. Health officials report an 87% recovery rate in the state as of July 16.

DHEC asks people to wear a mask when visiting public places and practice social distancing to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. It is now mandatory to wear face masks in certain public areas in unincorporated Horry County, the City of Myrtle Beach, the City of North Myrtle Beach and Georgetown County.
Health officials say washing your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds can help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
