Coronavirus live updates July 1: Myrtle Beach area sets record days before holiday weekend
Health officials announced a record high 228 new COVID-19 cases in Horry County on Wednesday afternoon.
The recent announcement brings the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases to 3,547 in Horry County since mid-March, according to the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control.
The county has had 45 deaths due to the coronavirus, DHEC reports.

So far this week, Horry County has seen 562 cases of the coronavirus, DHEC records show.
Cases in Georgetown County have reached 489 and the county has had three virus-related deaths.
Across South Carolina, cases have climbed to 37,809, with 735 deaths due to the virus, according to DHEC. The state has an 84 percent recovery rate as of Monday, DHEC reports.
