South Carolina cases have surpassed 36,200 as of Tuesday afternoon. The state has had a total of 735 deaths due to the coronavirus.

Today’s takeaways:

Wash your hands & wear a mask

This is your daily reminder to wash your hands often, wear a face mask and practice social distancing.

DHEC said in a Tuesday announcement people should stay home for Fourth of July festivities to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Health officials recommend folks have at-home activities July 4. For those who choose to attend fireworks shows, DHEC is asking them to stay inside vehicles.

Health officials also recommend people wash their hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands, officials say.
