Coronavirus count: New death reported for Horry County but case total stayed steady
The number of coronavirus cases in Horry County and the Myrtle Beach area did not rise Monday, but there was one new death.
The county’s total remained at 377 cases. The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control released the latest data on Monday afternoon.
Horry County’s death total rose to 22. The person who died was middle-aged.
Georgetown County had nine new cases, with the total rising to 69, and remained at three overall deaths as of Monday.
In South Carolina, there were 82 new COVID-19 cases Monday with five more deaths, bringing the totals to 10,178 cases and 440 deaths.
Health officials also continue to stress the importance of social distancing and handwashing to help slow the spread of the disease.
