Coronavirus live updates May 20: Myrtle Beach holiday weekend may include the traffic loop

As Memorial Day Weekend approaches, City of Myrtle Beach officials could impose the 23-mile traffic loop that is typically used during this holiday weekend to help control traffic and thousands of tourists.

The annual Atlantic Beach Bikefest, usually held during Memorial Day Weekend, is postponed to September due to the coronavirus pandemic, though Grand Strand officials are still expecting large crowds.

Here are the latest updates on the coronavirus in the Myrtle Beach area May 20.

S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control announced cases of the coronavirus in Horry County surpassed 300 Tuesday, making the total since mid-March 303. There have been at least 20 deaths due to the virus in the county.

In Georgetown County, cases have reached 52, with three deaths.

Cases across South Carolina have climbed to 9,056, DHEC reports. There have been 399 virus-related deaths in the state.
