Coronavirus by the numbers: DHEC announces new cases in Horry County, Myrtle Beach

Cases of the coronavirus grew by five in Horry County on Friday, according to health officials.

There are now 283 total coronavirus cases in the Myrtle Beach area since the pandemic started. There have also been 18 coronavirus deaths, with the last one being announced May 4, according to recent numbers.

This week, the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control has announced a total of 23 new COVID-19 cases in Horry County.

Cases in South Carolina have reached 8,407, with 380 deaths, DHEC reports. South Carolina has an 84 percent recovery rate for those infected, according to DHEC
