COVID-19 update: DHEC’s latest confirmed cases and deaths reported in Myrtle Beach area

Four new confirmed coronavirus cases were announced on Wednesday in the Myrtle Beach area, according to the Department of Health and Environmental Control.

Since March 15, Horry County has had 273 confirmed cases and 18 deaths in total. Georgetown County has had 51 confirmed cases and three deaths total.

The statewide coronavirus case total grew to 8,030 with 133 new cases announced on Wednesday. Seven additional deaths were announced bringing the total to 362 since the pandemic began.

While the case totals continue to rise, a majority of people who have contracted the virus have now recovered. DHEC reports an 86 percent coronavirus recovery rate as of Wednesday.
