Latest: New coronavirus cases announced in Horry County, Myrtle Beach area
Two more coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the Myrtle Beach area on Tuesday, according to the latest information from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.
There are now 269 positive COVID-19 cases in Horry County, with the number of deaths remaining at 18.
Georgetown County now has 53 confirmed cases and three deaths reported, as South Carolina’s total rises to 7,927 confirmed cases and 355 deaths from COVID-19. Statewide about 81 percent of people who tested positive from coronavirus have recovered.
The latest data comes as some Myrtle Beach area restaurants reopened dining room service on Monday. The dining rooms have been closed for weeks to help slow the virus’ spread. Restaurants are currently limited to 50 percent capacity as the state looks to restart the economy.
S.C. Gov. Henry McMaster announced Monday that barbershops, hair salons, gyms and public or commercial pools will be allowed to reopen next Monday.
