Coronavirus live updates May 12: Here’s the latest in the Myrtle Beach area
The Grand Strand is gradually reopening by the week after many businesses, salons and amenities closed to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
South Carolina salons, gyms and pools will reopen next week, Gov. Henry McMaster announced Monday. The announcement follows the reopening of restaurants’ indoor dining services across the state.
Here are the latest updates on the coronavirus in the Myrtle Beach area May 12.
Cases of the coronavirus in Horry County have reached 267 as of Tuesday, according to the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control. The county has had 18 deaths since mid-March due to the virus.
In Georgetown County, the number of coronavirus cases is at least 51, with three deaths, DHEC reports.
Across South Carolina, cases have climbed to 7,792 and there have been 346 total deaths. The state has a recovery rate of 81 percent, according to DHEC.
