Coronavirus live updates May 11: Myrtle Beach area restaurants resume indoor dining

Restaurants across the Grand Strand can reopen their indoor dining services today after most only offered takeout for weeks to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

The establishments can operate indoors at a 50 percent capacity. Last week South Carolina Gov. Henry announced that restaurants were allowed to resume outdoor dining services. McMaster said Friday an announcement on gyms and salons reopening could come as soon as today.

Here are the latest updates on the coronavirus in the Myrtle Beach area May 11.

Cases of the coronavirus across Horry County grew by 36 last week, bringing the total number of patients to 262 since mid-March, according to S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control records. The county has had 18 deaths due to the virus.

In Georgetown County, cases reached 50, with three deaths, DHEC records show.

South Carolina cases of the virus have reached at least 7,653 as of Monday morning. There have been 331 deaths in the state due to the coronavirus.

Today’s takeaways:

  • Seacoast Vineyard Church and nonprofit Convoy of Hope will host a food distribution from 3-6 p.m. today at the Pelicans Ballpark in Myrtle Beach. One box of food will be given to each vehicle as long as supplies last.
  • In case you missed it: Staying home during the coronavirus means more residential trash is being collected and yard waste has increased. Here’s the latest.

Wash your hands

Here’s your daily reminder to wash your hands. Health officials recommend washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
