Coronavirus count in Myrtle Beach, Horry County: The latest local COVID-19 numbers

The number of coronavirus cases in Horry County and the Myrtle Beach area continued to rise Sunday, with six additional cases.

The county’s total rose to 262 cases, up from 256 on Saturday. The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control released the latest data on Sunday afternoon.

There were no new deaths reported, leaving the Horry County total at 18.

Georgetown County remained at 50 cases and three overall deaths as of Sunday.

In South Carolina, there were 122 new COVID-19 cases Sunday with one more death, bringing the totals to 7,653 cases and 331 deaths.

Health officials also continue to stress the importance of social distancing and handwashing to help slow the spread of the disease.
