Coronavirus count: Horry County, Myrtle Beach area COVID-19 case numbers stand pat

The number of coronavirus cases in Horry County and the Myrtle Beach area stood firm Saturday.

The county’s total remained at 223. The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control released the latest data on Saturday afternoon.

There were no new deaths in Horry County as the total remained at 16.

Georgetown County’s total was at 43 cases, as the death toll stayed at three.

In South Carolina, there were 231 new COVID-19 cases Saturday with 11 more deaths, bringing the totals to 6,489 cases and 267 deaths.

S.C. Gov. Henry McMaster on Friday made the ‘work or home’ order voluntary while paving the way for restaurants to participate in outdoor dining beginning Monday.

Health officials also continue to stress the importance of social distancing and handwashing to help slow the spread of the disease.
