Coronavirus live updates May 2: Horry County, Myrtle Beach restaurants raring to go

There was a figurative and collective round of applause from many in the Myrtle Beach area via social media following S.C. Gov. Henry McMaster’s announcement that outdoor dining at restaurants would again be allowed beginning Monday.

Horry County restaurants like Crooked Oak Tavern in Conway and RipTydz in Myrtle Beach announced that they will partake in outdoor serving soon. Crooked Oak Tavern stated it would start services just as soon as allowed.

“We will be open Monday May 4th for outdoor seating. Reservations will be recommended. Call to make your reservation today,” Crooked Oaks Tavern stated in a Facebook post. “We will continue to follow all DHEC and CDC standards for health and safety. We will be back to almost full menu and still doing curbside/family meals to go. We look forward to seeing our family and friends again. We miss you.”

RypTydz, meanwhile, announced plans to allow outdoor services soon, but has not yet stated when it will begin.

“We’re BACK baby! The Governor has lifted his restaurant order and is allowing “Outdoor” dinning starting next week!” the restaurant and bar stated in a Facebook post. “Stay tuned for the “Official” Opening Day! Can’t wait to see all our friends again!”

Restaurants had been prohibited from providing dine-in services since March 17 amid the coronavirus pandemic.

According to social media posts, Crooked Oak Tavern and RipTydz are just two of several area businesses that are chomping at the bit to return to some sort of normalcy.
