Two more coronavirus cases and three new deaths have been confirmed in the Myrtle Beach area on Tuesday, according to the latest information from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.
There are now 211 positive COVID-19 cases in Horry County, with 15 deaths reported. The three new deaths were elderly individuals, according to DHEC.
Georgetown County now has 40 confirmed cases and two deaths reported, as South Carolina’s total rises to 5,735 confirmed cases and 192 deaths from COVID-19.
DHEC also said Tuesday that coronavirus patients’ recovery rate in South Carolina is approximately 76 percent.
While cases continue to increase in Horry County, medical professionals at Tidelands Health and Conway Medical Center believe the area has leveled while still urging the importance of practicing social distancing, washing your hands and using common sense as businesses and public places begin to reopen.
The number of COVID-19 cases announced last week by the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control decreased compared to weeks prior in Horry County. About 20 new cases in the county were confirmed last week, compared to just over 50 between April 13-19 and about 70 April 6-12.
DHEC updated its estimated cases by county on Tuesday, with Horry County at 1,296, meaning the state believes the county has approximately 1,500 positive coronavirus cases.
The Center for Disease Control is asking all residents to limit their social interactions, wash their hands and do whatever you can to keep this disease from spreading. Projections show South Carolina reached its peak of coronavirus in mid-April.
