Myrtle Beach, Horry County see new coronavirus case as state moves to reopen beaches

Horry County and Myrtle Beach saw one additional coronavirus case as the state moves to reopen public access to the beachfront.

There are now 186 cases in Horry County, according to the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control data released on Monday evening. That is up from 185 cases as of Sunday.

The Myrtle Beach area has also seen 12 deaths from COVID-19.

Across South Carolina there are now more than 4,439 coronavirus cases and 124 deaths.

South Carolina has been under a “work or home” order for about two weeks as the state tries to slow the spread of the virus. Public accesses to the beach were also closed, but Gov. Henry McMaster announced plans to reopen them starting on Tuesday.
