City of Myrtle Beach quarantines 30 for exposure to person who tested COVID-19 positive

The City of Myrtle Beach has quarantined approximately 30 employees in two departments, including the police department, because of exposure to a person who has tested positive for the coronavirus COVID-19.

“The staff members are in quarantine as a precaution,” said City of Myrtle Beach pubic information officer Mark Kruea. “Suffice it to say that we are following the CDC’s guidelines for quarantine when contact occurs with someone who tests positive.”

Kruea said building maintenance was the other department impacted and he did not know how many members of the police department were in quarantine, but said “the department’s operations are not affected.”

“HIPAA regulations prevent the release of any detailed personal information,” he added.
