DHEC update: Myrtle Beach area coronavirus cases inch closer to 100 as another person dies

The Myrtle Beach area now has 98 confirmed coronavirus cases, according to the latest numbers from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.

This is up from 91 cases the day prior in Horry County. There was one additional death in the county, according to DHEC, bringing the total to seven deaths.

South Carolina now has 2,552 confirmed cases with 63 deaths.

DHEC projections indicate that the number of actual coronavirus cases in Horry County and South Carolina is much higher. To help slow the spread of the virus, officials ask residents obey the governor’s orders, practice social distancing and wash their hands.
