Coronavirus cases update: Here are DHEC’s latest numbers for Myrtle Beach, Horry County

The number of coronavirus cases in Myrtle Beach continues to climb.

There are now 28 positive cases in Horry County, according to the South Carolina Department of Environmental Control data released on Saturday. That is up form 24 cases on Friday.

In South Carolina, there have been 660 positive cases, according to the latest data. There have been 15 deaths.

Georgetown County now has six confirmed cases.

Two deaths have been reported in Horry County. One death was announced on March 14 and was an elderly person with no underlying health conditions. The other death was announced Saturday and was an elderly person with underlying health conditions.

Officials continue to stress the importance of hand washing and social distancing as the outbreak grows across the state.

Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach and Horry County have enacted ordinances, that shut down hotels and amusements, to help slow the spread of coronavirus. People in Myrtle Beach hotels have until noon Sunday to leave.
