DHEC update: The Myrtle Beach area’s confirmed coronavirus case total continues to climb 

Horry County known cases of coronavirus increased by three on Friday.

This brings the county-wide total to 24 cases.

Every day this week a handful of additional cases have been announced in Horry County while the statewide total continues to spike. In South Carolina there are now 542 confirmed cases, according to the Department of Public Health.

Thirteen people in South Carolina have died due to coronavirus.

In an attempt to slow the spread of coronavirus and discourage visitors from coming to the Grand Strand, local governments have placed bans on hotels, amusements and campgrounds.

Myrtle Beach and Surfside Beach approved restriction in announced meetings and encouraged the public to listen in. Horry County and North Myrtle Beach, however, made their decision in meetings that were not open to the public.

Please continue to wash your hands regularly and stay at home unless its necessary you leave.
