SC state parks, including 2 in the Myrtle Beach area, to close due to coronavirus
All South Carolina state parks including two in the Myrtle Beach area will close as coronavirus cases continue to grow.
SC Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism announced on Friday that all state parks, including Myrtle Beach State Park and Huntington Beach State Park, will close on Saturday.
The closure will last through April and is being done to keep visitors and employees as safe as possible.
Visitors who are currently in campsites and cabins can remain through their stay as long as they practice social distancing, officials said. All new reservations from Saturday through April will be canceled and refunded.
Before the announcements, the state parks were open for people to enjoy as long as they maintained safe distance. But, now the areas and beaches will be off limits.
