Residents report internet outages in Myrtle Beach area as more people work from home

Myrtle Beach area residents are reporting internet outages across Carolina Forest on Monday as many people are self-isolating, students are learning from a distance and working from home to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Spectrum internet outages were reported in neighborhoods across Carolina Forest, including The Farm, Bellegrove Preserve and Berkshire Forest, due to damage to internet fiber.

“A third party working in the Carolina Forest area damaged our fiber,” a Spectrum spokesperson said in an email to The Sun News. “Our technical teams are working to restore services as quickly as possible for those impacted customers. We apologize for the inconvenience.”

According to a post on Facebook, Spectrum has told customers it should be fixed by noon.
